Year 6 pupils take part in training for road safety during the summer term. This is provided free of charge by Wrexham Road Safety Department. Pupils take two tests at the end of the course in road theory and practical ability. Successful candidates gain certification in cycling proficiency.
School trips allow pupils to consolidate the classroom work they have undertaken or to gain life skills and self-confidence. The main part of the costs of all trips is the transport. We have to ask for a contribution from all parents concerned to help cover the buses and admission costs, without which we would have to probably cancel the arranged excursion. Trips arranged this year include:
| Date | Event |
| January | Junior pupils (years 4 & 5) have visited the Kingswood Centre near Wolverhampton for a 5 day residential course. |
| June | Year 6 pupils
enjoyed a 3 day residential visit to the new Urdd Centre at Cardiff.
Class 3 enjoyed a visit to the maritime city of Liverpool in June. They had a trip on the ferry across the Mersey and explored the Albert Dock centre and museums. Class 4 travelled to Malton in Yorkshire to experience the WWII POW museum Eden Camp. This visit enhanced the history lessons on the second world war. |
| July | The junior department visited the Loggerheads Country Park
near Mold for nature studies courtesy of the Forestry Commission.
Year 5 & 6 are visiting a variety of events in the Wrexham area as part of the Religious Education Department's Tapestry of Life Festival. The infant department will be participating in the annual Welsh Jamboree held at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd. The Reception pupils are going to Farmworld near Erddig for an introduction to nature and farms. Class 2 will be travelling to Shropshire to see a historic working farm and to learn how the land and animals were worked in the past. |
Pupils from year 1 to year 6 are able to take part in a variety of sports training including football, rugby, netball, hockey, athletics, swimming and rounders. House matches are played during the late summer term, primary matches take place throughout the year and consortium games in summer.
